COLLECTION

The Dreamland Heritage Trust holds a large archive of historic material, including images, ephemera and documentation from the early 1870s through to the present day. Part of the archive has been digitized by SEAS, and a section of it if now accessible via the Dreamland portal on the SEAS website. In addition to the archive, the Trust also holds some historic rides, associated objects and amusement park artifacts.
The Trust is currently cataloguing the collections digitally to make the archive accessible for learning, exhibitions, publications, talks, presentations, and heritage events and activities
The Trust has worked in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University to develop an online Dreamland portal on the SEAS website. Visitors are invited to explore Dreamland’s many heritage themes, from the site’s early origins in the 1860s railway boom and emerging tourism, circus, pleasure gardens, menageries, social history, historic thrill rides, British seaside amusement park and youth culture heritage.

SEAS
PHOTOGRAPY COLLECTION
The South East Archive of Seaside Photography (SEAS)
Established in 2012 with assistance from a substantial Heritage Lottery Funding award. The Archive is located within the Centre for Research on Communities and Cultures at Canterbury Christ Church University.
SEAS Photography provides new insight into commercial seaside photographic practice from 1860-1990. The research brings focus onto a hitherto overlooked form of photography, revealing rich seams of imagery and offering new perspectives on coastal histories.
